CAREERS GUIDANCE
At Ringwood School we aim to support pupils and parents/carers by providing timely advice and guidance throughout Years 7-13. This support, advice and many opportunities are made possible by our strong relationships with local Colleges, Employers, Training providers and Universities.
Every student has the opportunity for an impartial guidance interview, to explore the range of education or training options – including apprenticeships and other vocational pathways – available whenever significant study or career choices are being made.
Ringwood School has a qualified and impartial Careers Advisor to provide support in making individual future career and study plans. Appointments can be requested by parents or students through the tutor, head of year or emailing the Careers Department on careers@ringwood.hants.sch.uk
LABOUR MARKET INFORMATION (LMI)
It is important for every student, parent and carer to be aware of and make use of Labour Market Information. This can help to prepare students for decisions on future study and potential job sectors. LMI is updated regularly and shows trends and opportunities to support students in a successful future career.
Being on the Hampshire and Dorset borders, it is useful for students to be aware of the LMI in both counties.

Skillsometer can help you discover what jobs you might like to do in the future. You will be presented with a series of statements. Select the emoji that shows how you feel about each statement. You will be given suggestions of jobs linked to what you most enjoy doing. For each job, you will be presented with some headline UK data.
Careerometer can be used to explore and compare key information about occupations to support the process of identifying potential careers. Simply type in the title of the job you are interested in and the widget provides a series of options from which you can select the most relevant to you. You can then look up another occupation and compare. You can also select ‘display the UK average’ and compare the information with the occupation you have selected.
