Ringwood Sixth Form in Top 15% of post 16 Providers Nationally

The Department for Education Post 16 performance tables rate Ringwood Sixth Form in the top 15% of all UK schools and one of the highest performing providers in the region. The 2019 results recognise the high levels of achievement and exceptional progress that students made during their time in the Sixth Form.

We are also thrilled with our “Outstanding”   rating from ALPs (a national progress measure for A-Level), which puts Ringwood School in the top 10% of Post 16 providers for teaching and progress over the last years.

This year the percentage of top grades (grades A*/A/B) is once again at 55% with two thirds of students securing at least one of these high grades. The percentage of A*-C grades at A-Level is 84% (up on 80% last year) and the average grade at our centre in 2019 is B- once again. We are delighted that our pass rate this year is 100 %.

Many subjects have had an exceptionally successful year, especially in ‘facilitating’ subjects (subjects defined by universities as those leaving the widest range of options for university study). In Maths, our most popular A-Level, the A*-B rate was high above the school average with an incredible 89% of students attaining A*-B and Further Maths has again secured an amazing 100% A*-B. Modern Foreign Languages have performed very well this year with 100% of Spanish and German A-Level grades at A*-B.

We are a sixth form that is proud to offer some vocational options alongside our more traditional A-Level subjects. These qualifications have also delivered significant success this year with all students on the BTEC Double Production Arts achieving at least two Distinctions, and 57% of the class securing a Double Distinction Star. 62% attained a Distinction Star in their OCR Sport Level 3 qualification and 88.5% of our Media cohort have secured a Distinction or Distinction Star.
