Colour Run 2025
Following a hugely successful event three years ago we are excited to announce a fundraising ‘Colour Run’ event on Thursday, 17th July to raise £25,000 towards building new student changing rooms!
Each session will start with a warmup and ‘powder party’ in school followed by students navigating a signposted 3.5-mile route of the town in their tutor groups, fully supervised by staff. On the route there will be 5 ‘colour stations’, staff at each colour station will throw bright coloured powders over students before they gather and continue the route.
We hope that all students will want to take part and have pride in raising as much money as possible to improve our PE changing room facilities.
You will need to give consent for your child to take part. As we are a cashless school, the days of traditional fundraising with a large envelope full of loose change is no longer possible! We are using the GoodHub online fundraising platform to raise money for this event. Your child will be able to create their own fundraising page to share with friends and family which will add to our total. You can keep an eye on our fundraising progress too! https://www.goodhub.com/go/ringwoodschoolcolourrun
Every participant will be required to wear some form of eye covering to take part – sunglasses are recommended. If your child wishes to wear bright, neon accessories this is permitted. We have several good value neon items, including sunglasses, available to buy on our website. After placing your order you will be notified when items are ready for your child to collect from Student Reception.
FAQs
Is there a cost involved to take part?
Whilst this event costs in excess of £5,000 to host, we are asking students to fundraise as much as possible towards building new changing rooms - a project which is raised year-on-year by our Student Voice groups. Your child can create a fundraising page to share with friends and family, or you can make a one-off donation here: https://www.goodhub.com/go/ringwoodschoolcolourrun
What should my child wear?
We strongly advise that your child wears low value shorts and t-shirt, which would be considered sacrificial. We strongly advise against branded sportswear as our Colour Powders may stain. Students should not wear their PE kit as this may get damaged.
My child doesn't want to take part / is not able to take part
There will be a number of quiet study rooms in school where your child will be based for the day.
Are the Colour Powders safe?
The colour powders we use are non-toxic and environmentally friendly. They can be brushed or will wash away with the rain, although we hope most will be worn by our students! Those who suffer with asthma should be cautious and may choose to run alongside the colour station rather than through it.
How long is the route?
The route is 3.5km. When we did the event in 2022 all students completed the event with a big smile on their faces! Although called a Colour 'Run' our groups walk the route.
Could the weather affect the event?
We are hoping for dry, sunny weather, in which case your child should ensure they are suitably protected from the sun. In the event of wet weather, a decision will be made early in the morning on the day, but we hope to go ahead so long as it is safe to do so.
My child wants to be with their friends
We have to manage over 1,000 students taking part, and the easiest way to do this is to release students in small groups with their tutor. It will not be possible for students to mix groups. Each group will have a minimum of 2 staff accompanying it.
Does my child get rewarded for taking part?
Yes! We have been very kindly supported by Anytime Fitness, Ringwood who will help with the warm up sessions and provide all finishers with a souvenir medal. We are very grateful to them.
What is the process if my child suffers and injury on the route?
All groups are accompanied by staff who are in contact with the School at all times. We have roving staff managing the event, and the School Nurse will be situated on a First Aid station at the half way point.
Do I need to do anything to allow my child to take part?
Yes. You must give your consent by completing the form at this link.
Your child must wear some form of eye protection at each Colour Station or they will not be allowed to go through it. Sunglasses are ideal, and we have neon sunglasses available online at a discounted rate.
Can I get involved as a parent?
Yes absolutely! We would be very grateful if you can free some time to be a Marshal on our route. We need help at key road crossings and in ensuring our groups are following the correct route! Find out more by completing the form at this link.
